Planate is a small business provider of planning, design, infrastructure management, technical consulting, engineering, and construction management services in support of the US Department of Defense (DOD) and its Service (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps) missions, along with other US federal agencies, all over the world.As a Mechanical Engineer , you will be responsible for providing mechanical engineering and construction management support for the Chiller Plant System and Chilled and Condenser Water System Repair/Replace at the Miami VA Medical Center. You will ensure compliance with design intent, construction standards, and project objectives throughout all phases of the project.This position is contingent upon the award of the contract, and the contract duration is one year with three option years.Key ResponsibilitiesSupport construction management activities including inspections and reportingReview mechanical and plumbing systems design, shop drawings, and submittalsMonitor construction progress and ensure adherence to schedule and budgetMaintain project documentation, logs, and as-built drawingsAssist in resolving technical issues, RFIs, and design clarificationsSupport cost estimating, change order analysis, and project controlsCoordinate with multidisciplinary teams and contractorsEnsure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standardsQualificationsBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management or 10 years of directly related experience in lieu of bachelor's degree.Licensed Professional Mechanical Engineer in the State of FloridaMinimum 7 years of experience in construction/project managementExperience with chiller utility systems in federal or healthcare projects preferredDemonstrated knowledge of VA standards, FAR, NFPA, and OSHA requirements.Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Why Planate?Planate Management Group is an affirmative action and equal opportunity employer.
