Department: Operations Reports to: Sr. Operations Planner Position Summary

The Operations Planner / Scheduler is responsible for developing, maintaining, and executing production schedules that align customer demand with manufacturing capacity, material availability, and operational constraints. This role works cross-functionally with Production, Maintenance, Engineering, Procurement, and Quality to ensure on-time delivery, optimal inventory levels, and efficient use of resources.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain weekly and monthly production schedules based on demand forecasts, capacity, and material availability
  • Balance production capacity, labor, and equipment to meet customer requirements and business goals
  • Monitor and adjust schedules to address changes in demand, material shortages, equipment downtime, or labor constraints
  • Coordinate with Procurement and Quality to ensure timely availability of raw materials and components
  • Support S&OP and capacity planning processes, providing data-driven insights and recommendations
  • Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) such as schedule adherence, on-time delivery, inventory levels, and backorders
  • Identify risks to production plans and proactively communicate mitigation plans
  • Collaborate with Production, Quality, and Engineering teams to resolve scheduling conflicts and improve efficiency
  • Maintain accurate data in ERP system (D365) and ensure planning parameters are up to date
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to planning, scheduling, and inventory management
  • Lead the weekly scheduling meeting, serving as the primary point of coordination across supporting departments to ensure alignment on delivery commitments.
  • Plan and firm production orders in D365 to maintain safety stock levels, minimizing backorders while reducing the risk of expired or short-dated inventory.
  • Assume additional duties beyond primary responsibilities as required by the organization.

Required Qualifications

  • 25 years of experience in production planning, scheduling, or supply chain operations.
  • Equivalent professional coursework and experience or a four-year degree in business, logistics, or supply chain management, documentation control; coursework in business management or a pharmaceutical professional certification.
  • Strong knowledge of supply chain management, inventory management, demand planning, and experience with FDA and DEA regulated facilities. Demonstrated proficiency with ERP software such as D365 or equivalent ERP system and Quality System such as Master Control or equivalent systems.
  • Strong understanding of ERP systems and planning logic
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools
  • Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Travel required in this position 0-10%

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a manufacturing or production environment preferred
  • Experience in an FDA / cGMP regulated environment a plus
