Your Specific Responsibilities:
This is a highly independent position with Florida Department of Health in Escambia in the Communications, Health Education, Nutrition, and Public Health Preparedness Division. The incumbent will be responsible for planning, implementing, conducting, and evaluating internal employee wellness activities and programming aligned with the strategic plan and Healthiest Weight Florida initiatives. The incumbent will provide health education in a variety of settings and populations. The incumbent will be under the direct supervision of the Health Education Program Manager-SES in the Communications, Health Education, Nutrition and Public Health Preparedness (CHEN) Division of the Florida Department of Health in Escambia County. Incumbent is expected to promote cooperation and teamwork in a diverse environment. Travel may be required.
Worksite Wellness
Develop, implement, and evaluate an internal employee wellness program. Recruit and retain members for the DOH-Escambia's worksite wellness team. Identify best practices. Maintain employee engagement in the challenges. Develop worksite wellness plans/templates for businesses in the local community that include options for low, moderate, and high-level implementation. Offer technical assistance to local businesses, faith-based organizations, and civic organizations, including assistance and encouragement for completing the CDC Worksite Wellness Scorecard. Completes CDC Wellness Scorecard for DOH-Escambia. Provide presentations on worksite wellness to the community.
Internal Employee Wellness
Coordinates Internal Employee Wellness program for all DOH-Escambia locations. Leads Employee Wellness Committee. Develops and implements Employee Wellness Improvement Plan. Manages progress of all Employee Wellness focused Quality Improvement Projects. Creates and implements internal employee wellness challenges and programs.
Healthiest Weight Statewide Initiative:
Develop, implement and monitor activities aligned with the state Healthiest Weight Workplan. Maintains quarterly progress data and reports to State office and supervisor for review. Ensures all Employee Wellness tasks are complete in accordance with the annual Healthiest Weight Florida initiatives.
Health Education
Develop and deliver wellness focused health messaging to the public on topics such as basic hygiene, importance of cancer screening, healthiest weight, health and the built environment, and other statewide initiatives or topics of interest to the public. Assist in the implementation of the 5-2-1-0 Let's Go! program in private schools, preschools, childcare centers, and community settings.
Assist in the deployment of DOH-Escambia core campaigns (Flu Prevention, Drain and Cover, and Summer Safety). Solicit community partners and identify opportunities to promote public health initiatives. Keep accurate records of resources used and impact.
Age-friendly Health Education:
Review, modify, and develop nutrition materials for age-friendly wellness initiatives. Provide training and technical assistance to community partners working to promote wellness in older adults.
Lifelong Learning:
Participate in learning activities including conferences, webinars, and in-services designed to enhance current knowledge in the field of dietetics and health. Complete all requirements to maintain dietetics licensure in the State of Florida.
Other Related Tasks/Duties:

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to plan, implement and evaluate health education and wellness programming and curriculum. Ability to develop culturally and educationally appropriate materials. Knowledge of basic statistics, basic computer skills: Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
Qualifications:
Minimum - High School diploma and 1 to 3 years of experience.
Preferred - Bachelor of Science in Health Education, Community Health, Public Health, or other health sciences. CHES certified. Certified Worksite Wellness Specialist
