Summary
The Senior Estimator is responsible for leading the preparation and coordination of cost estimates for all projects, including large-scale and complex projects. This role plays a key part in determining the financial feasibility of projects, ensuring accurate cost forecasting, and supporting bidding and procurement efforts. The Senior Estimator collaborates closely with project management, engineering, procurement, and executive leadership.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Estimate Development:
o Prepare detailed cost estimates for all phases of construction projects, including final bid
o Analyze drawings, specifications, and project documents to develop accurate takeoffs and pricing
Bidding & Proposals:
o Lead bid strategy meetings and contribute to the preparation of competitive proposals
o Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids to ensure competitive pricing and compliance with scope
Cost Analysis:
o Conduct cost benchmarking and historical cost analysis to validate assumptions and refine estimates
o Identify and quantify cost risks and provide value engineering solutions
Collaboration:
o Work with project managers and clients to clarify project scope and resolve design and construction issues
o Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client presentations
Documentation:
o Maintain organized estimate files and documentation to support budget approvals and post-project analysis
o Ensure compliance with company standards and industry best practices
Mentorship:
o Provide guidance and training to junior estimators and support staff
o Review and approve junior-level estimates for accuracy and completeness
Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
7+ years of experience in estimating within pipeline construction industry
Proven track record of successful project bids and cost accuracy on projects valued between $1-50 million.
Proficient with estimating software such as Bluebeam, Sage Estimating, Timberline, or others
Strong skills in Microsoft Excel, project scheduling software (e.g., MS Project or Primavera), and quantity takeoff tools
Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) or other relevant certifications
Strong analytical and mathematical skills
Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
Ability to manage multiple deadlines and high-pressure bid environments
High attention to detail and accuracy

Physical Requirements
Sit, stand and walk continuously throughout the scheduled workday
