Position Overview
Xavier House is a foster care group home dedicated to serving teens who exhibit behaviors indicative of high intelligence. We strive to provide a supportive environment where teens, who may have previously struggled to be understood, can find peace, acceptance, and a sense of belonging. Our mission is to create a safe space where our residents can flourish and reach their full potential. We are currently seeking a compassionate and committed House Parent to join our team. This role involves providing comprehensive care and support in a residential setting, ensuring the well-being, safety, and personal growth of each resident.
Key Responsibilities:
Engage in physically demanding recreational activities with residents.
Support residents with academic tasks, including homework and college readiness.
Effectively manage and redirect challenging behaviors in at-risk teens with empathy, respect, and confidence.
Demonstrate a willingness to learn and explore a wide range of hobbies and interests alongside residents.
Provide trauma-informed care tailored to the needs of highly intelligent teens, meeting them where they are.
Develop creative and engaging plans to stimulate even the most disengaged teens mentally.
Offer emotional support and regulation during periods of heightened emotions.
Thrive in a high-demand environment with minimal downtime.
Qualifications:
Prior experience working with at-risk individuals.
High school diploma required; college degree preferred.
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Ability to pass a Level II Criminal History background check.
Availability to work overnight shifts two nights per week.
