Overview:

The PCT Star Team may be expected to work in various areas of Baptist Healthcare (to include but not limited to Baptist Hospital, Gulf Breeze Hospital, Behavioral Medical Center, Emergency Departments and Jay Hospital) to provide support to licensed team members. Through communication, requisitioning and management of supplies and equipment, coordinates the activities of the nursing staff, the patient, the physician, other hospital departments and visitors. He/she performs general receptionist and clerical duties in order to facilitate efficient functioning of the nursing unit. Under the direct supervision of licensed personnel the PCT performs a variety of routine duties to assist the nursing staff in the delivery of patient care. As a direct care staff, the Technician spends the majority of his or her time interacting with, assisting, and supporting our patients. These responsibilities may include, but is not limited to assisting with ambulating and mobilization of patients, taking and recording the patients vital signs (i.e., BP, Temperature, Pulse, Respirations, & O2 sat), weighing patients, assisting with personal hygiene / AM Care (i.e., Oral Care, Bathing the patient, etc.), assisting with bedpans and toileting, catheter care, empty drains, turning bedridden patients or patients that need assistance with turning, linen changes, assisting with meal preparation, feeding patients, I&O, light cleaning and organizing of patients room, answering call lights, and relaying pertinent information to the nurse. Along with ensuring a safe environment, he or she develops with each individual a therapeutic relationship that is critical in the healing process. The person in this position works under general supervision, is responsible for various shifts, may be subject to over 40 hours per week and/or callback as required, and may also be required to remain on campus immediately before, during, and after severe weather and/or disasters.

Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree required.
  • Two (2) years of current experience in the role as a PCT, Sitter, MA, CNA, EMT or Paramedic required
  • BLS through American Heart Association. Must pass Level II background screening.
  • CPI required within 90 days of employment/transfer.
  • Must be flexible as this role may be responsible for working several different settings. Ability to communicate effectively and document information accurately. Ability to deal efficiently and effectively with a wide variety of individuals. Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
