The Bell Person is primarily responsible for greeting and welcoming all guests to the hotel and to relieve guests of their luggage on arrival. This role will ensure that the highest standards of hospitality are always demonstrated, and that all guest requests are dealt with in a prompt and courteous manner.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Always approach all interactions with guests and employees in a friendly and service-oriented manner by maintaining a positive demeanor.
- Promotes a positive and caring work environment by addressing and resolving any conflict in a calm and poised manner.
- Maintains regular attendance as required by scheduling which will vary according to the needs of the individual property.
- Be present at the concierge/reception desk or in the lobby ready to assist guests, colleagues, and visitors when requested.
- Greets guests upon arrival and makes them feel welcomed by always following the 5/10 rule.
- Escorts guests to their assigned rooms, placing luggage in and inspect guest room for order and adequate supplies and informs guests of room amenities, lastly offering any other assistance they may need before securing their room shut.
- Provides quality service to all guests by responding to their requests promptly, efficiently, and courteously.
- Checks the daily arrival list for VIPs or guests with special needs in preparation to assist them.
- Arranges for special services for guests as needed, which includes but is not limited to making reservations somewhere, calling a taxi, providing directions, or simply sending up a small surprise to acknowledge a special occasion.
- Provide valet services to departing and arriving guests.
- Assists with answering the telephone and taking messages, transferring calls or dealing with inquiries.
- Has accurate knowledge about the property, its amenities, and surrounding areas.
- Able to operate and drive shuttle (as applicable by property).
- Follows all company's policies, procedures, and meet standards.
- Performs any other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
1. Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
2. Previous experience in hospitality industry preferred.
3. Ability to read, write, and speak effectively in English to communicate with guests and team members.
4. Commitment to providing excellent customer service.
5. Friendliness, problem solving, and organizational skills needed.
6. Must be able to communicate effectively and often handle disgruntled guests and difficult situations.
7. Must be able to multi-task.
8. Must be a team player.
9. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a high degree of autonomy.
10. Must have valid driver's license and clean driving record (as applicable by property.)
